Dru: Yoga That Feels Like Home
People often ask me, “What kind of yoga do you teach?”
And when I say Dru Yoga, I often get a curious look or a gentle, “What’s that?”
Sure, I could explain all the technical things about Dru (and you will read more about that here)…
But I’d rather tell you why I love it—and why I chose it as my own practice.
I tried many styles before finding Dru, and I honour them all. But Dru felt different...
What I love most is the contrast—it’s gentle in the way it moves, but by the end, you feel strong, clear, and grounded.
It’s not about pushing yourself to the limits or creating fancy shapes with your body. It’s about being, feeling, softening, and staying present.
Dru is a practice for every body.
You don’t need to be flexible or fit or experienced. You don’t even need to touch your toes.
You just need to show up—and let the practice meet you where you are.
Dru is so healing for your spine, your nervous system, your mind, and your energy. It helps release stagnant thoughts, emotions, and physical tension—so you leave class feeling clear, calm, and connected. And the best part, it’s simple enough to take with you into daily life.
If you’ve ever felt out of place in a yoga class…
If you’ve been told you’re “not flexible enough” or if yoga just hasn’t felt like you… Come try Dru.
It’s gentle. It’s real. And it meets you exactly where you are.
Once you experience it, I believe you’ll understand why we say:
Dru Yoga feels like coming home.
What to expect from your Dru Yoga class:

Activations
We always begin with Activations—a gentle yet powerful way to warm up the body and land fully in the present moment.
These fun, flowing movements are designed to release tension, wake up your energy, and prepare your body for a safe and joyful practice—without any strain or pressure.
You can expect things like shaking, tapping, cross-patterning, gentle twists, figure-8 movements, and my personal favourite: spinal waves.
(They feel as good as they sound!)
This part of the class is often filled with smiles—it’s playful, energising, and helps you transition from the busyness of the day into your inner sanctuary.

EBR
This is the heart of Dru Yoga.
Energy Block Release sequences—what we call EBRs—are one of the most powerful and unique parts of the practice. They’re beautifully designed combinations of movements—stretching, twisting, bending in all directions, and gentle squats—that work through every layer of your body.
But they’re not just physical.
EBRs help dissolve stuck energy—whether it’s in your body, your thoughts, or your emotions. They bring movement where things feel tight or heavy, and gently restore flow where it’s been blocked.
These sequences are incredibly potent and healing—they create a sense of lightness, clarity, and spaciousness.

Yoga Asanas
This is where we explore traditional yoga postures, either on their own or infused into beautiful, flowing sequences that feel like a moving meditation.
Each asana and sequence is chosen with care—not just for how it looks, but for how it heals.
Every movement has specific therapeutic benefits for both the body and the mind, helping to restore balance, strength, and ease.
In Dru, we go deeper by working with intention. When we bring in affirmations, breath awareness, and visualisation, the posture becomes more than physical—it becomes a powerful tool for inner transformation.
You’re not just doing the pose—you’re becoming the energy of it.

Deep Relaxation
Every Dru Yoga class ends with what many call their favourite part: deep, nourishing relaxation.
This is more than just lying down at the end—it’s a powerful practice in itself. In Dru, we give plenty of time for relaxation so that all the energy we've moved, cleared, and activated during class can settle exactly where it needs to. It’s where the healing lands.
Just 15 minutes of Dru-style relaxation can feel like two hours of deep sleep, giving your body a chance to repair, restore, and integrate—right down to a cellular level.
You’ll leave feeling rested, renewed, and more connected to yourself than when you arrived.
and beyond the practice itself…
You’ll find warm hugs, calming aromatherapy, soulful conversations, shared laughter, and the kind of connection that stays with you long after class ends. You’ll meet beautiful human beings on their own journeys—and together, we create a space that feels safe, uplifting, and real.
Each month, our practice is guided by a soulful intention—an anchor for personal growth and collective reflection. You can read more about our current intention and how it weaves into our classes over on the blog.
