Noticing Beauty

Spring’s Invitation to Awaken our Senses

Spring always has a peculiar way to make an entrance in Melbourne isn’t it? We get excited with a few warmer days soon to be followed by cold and windy ones that spark the hayfever symptoms and give us the chance to feel like Mary Poppins!

And maybe it is the spontaneity that makes Spring such a special season. I love turning my head and seeing more colour around, life emerging in the most unexpected places and nature surprising us in wonderful ways.

So this September I am feeling refreshed and inspired to bring to you, my beloved community, the Intention of Noticing Beauty.

Our beautiful nervous system is constantly bombarded by the stream of negativity—the news, social media, and the sorrows of the world. So I would love to bring a set of new glasses and shift our attention from what's broken to what's breathtaking. Beauty is everywhere, waiting to be noticed, not just in the world around us, but in ourselves, in others, and in the very nature of our lives.

So take a moment... Yes right now… Close your eyes and take a deep breath, one of those that enriches your soul. From this place ask yourself, "What’s beautiful in my life right now?" "What beauty can I find in this very moment?" Notice how it feels and the abundance of answers you get. Our minds are like gardens and it will give us the fruits of what we plant. This month of September let’s plant the seeds of possibilities, of renewal by noticing what’s beautiful.

The Transition from Winter to Spring: Allow Yourself to Bloom

Spring is a time of rebirth, a moment when we all come out of the hibernation of Winter. As we step into this new season, we are invited to let go of the sluggishness that Winter may have left behind—old beliefs, patterns, and habits that no longer serve us. Spring is here inviting us to revitalise our energy and emerge renewed for this new cycle of life. Just like the flowers blossom, it's time for us to open, expand, and embrace this fresh start.

In our Dru Yoga practice this month, expect more movement and dynamism with the unique gentleness of Dru. We will have refreshing Activations, followed by EBR5, a subtle yet powerful sequence designed to clear out any lingering stagnation (physically and energetically) and release what doesn’t support this new chapter. We’ll also enjoy the beautiful Salutation to the 4 Directions, an ancient flow that helps us view things, people and circumstances from different perspectives by pointing to the four cardinal points. This sequence magically unlocks our capacity to experience the beauty in everything and everyone. I dare you to try it.

Audrey Hepburn's Timeless Wisdom on Beauty

Who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn? Isn’t she beautiful in the whole spectrum of the word? I personally love her authenticity and how in an industry full of fakeness, she was true to herself and allow herself to age gracefully.

For our practice this month, I took a hint of inspiration from Audrey's belief that beauty resides in kindness, in our ability to see the good, and in the way we carry ourselves with grace. In the next section enjoy some of my favourite quotes from this powerful icon of beauty and femininity.

Noticing Beauty in Four Dimensions

Beauty Within Ourselves
"Beauty is being the best possible version of yourself, inside and out"
Often, we are our own harshest critics. But what if we started to see ourselves with the same awe we have for a rainbow, a puppy, or a baby? This month, I encourage you to acknowledge everything that makes you unique. What do you love about your body? What do you cherish about your personality?

Take time to reflect on how you can honor and celebrate your inner and outer beauty, cultivating a sense of deep appreciation for yourself.

Beauty in Nature
"I believe every day you should have at least one exquisite moment"

The natural world is bursting with beauty—if we only take the time to notice. Let this season be a reminder to stop and smell the roses, to pause and truly see the vibrant colours, to close your eyes and immerse yourself in the sounds of the world around you.

Allow yourself to be present in the deliciousness of the moment, letting nature’s wonders fill your heart with joy and wonder.

Beauty in Others
"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."

How often do we focus on what we wish others would change, rather than celebrating their uniqueness? This month, practice seeing the essence of the people around you—especially those you love the most. Remove judgement and let beauty turn into acceptance.

When we choose to focus on what makes others special, we cultivate deeper connections and appreciation for the people in our lives while handing them a mirror to see the beauty in themselves too.

Beauty in Your Life
"Pick the day. Enjoy it—to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come."

Sometimes, it’s easy to overlook the beauty in our daily lives. But what if you made a daily inventory of all the things that are beautiful about your life? This could be as simple as a warm cup of tea in the morning, the laughter of a loved one, or the golden light at sunset.

Let this be your mantra for the month as you embrace the present moment and all its beautiful gifts.

Beauty is all around

This video has been a companion in my life for many years, I constantly come back to it, especially when I get too much in my mind. It always brings goosebumps and a smile to my heart. It is a testimony that beauty is all around us, if we only give ourselves the opportunity to slow down and notice. I hope you love it too.

Noticing Beauty is a conscious Choice

The intention of noticing beauty this month is our yoga practice as much as it is a personal choice. In our Dru Yoga classes (in studio and online) we’ll integrate the beauty of movement, breath, and deep relaxation, creating a sacred space for you to reconnect with yourself, nature, and the world around you. Turn off Netflix, get off the couch and join us in class to re-calibrate your body to this beautiful frequency.

I also have a few special Spring Events that will allow you to deepen your experience in Noticing Beauty and make this new cycle the best of your life:

  • Metamorphosis Day Event on September 14th: A transformative day to Emerge from Uncomfortable Life Transitions with Renewed Clarity & Wisdom.
  • Spring Retreat on September 20-22 (Only 2 spots left!): Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, beautiful company, beautiful food and deep reflection.

This is your invitation to bloom, to open yourself to the beauty within and around you, and to embrace this season of renewal with a full heart.

I love you. I see you. You are beautiful.
