The Fire Horse is Here!

Gallop with intention, without burning out.
"Passion is the log that keeps the fire of purpose burning." Unknown

January was about that first tiny Spark of Agni—our digestive and spiritual fire—and now, in February, is where we feel the wind in our hair. We are officially stepping into the Year of the Fire Horse, and I can feel it strongly in the air.

I’ve been fascinated with the history of the Horse lately. It’s so profound to think about how this animal changed humanity forever. Before the horse, our world was only as big as our own two feet could carry us. They helped us reach the "unreachable," bridging distances and expanding our horizons.

But the Fire Horse? That’s a whole different kind of energy. The last time we met this frequency was 1966—a year of massive social shifts and voices finally being heard. It’s been 60 years, and now, it’s our turn.

I’ve noticed myself feeling a little more "edgy" lately when old patterns—the ones it’s time to dispel—make their appearance. My voice speaks more loudly now, where before I might have preferred the quiet for the sake of "peace." I see people around me setting loving boundaries, saying "enough is enough," and the expressions of "rebellion" we are seeing on the news make it clear: the Fire Horse is here.

Burning through the "Shoulds"

In the tradition of the Fire Horse, this year isn't just about moving fast; it’s about transformation. I like to think of it as a sacred wildfire that is here to burn through all that heavy societal conditioning—the "shoulds" that keep us small and the masks we wear to stay safe.

When that fire clears the landscape of our lives, what’s left? Usually, it’s the raw, beautiful truth of who we actually are. And isn’t that beautiful? To see more of each other, authentically.

Last week, I had the most beautiful morning with my Dru teachers and friends. During breakfast, I asked a dear friend—a beautiful man named Jordan, whom I hadn’t seen in a few years—what he had been up to. He simply responded: "I am following my excitement!"

I thought it was such a great answer to my mundane question, so I asked a little deeper. He shared with me that a teacher had told him one thing that helped him declutter everything that wasn't in alignment:

Follow your excitement to the best of your ability, with no expectation of the outcome.”

I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. When I look at the people who inspire me most, they are doing exactly that. This is how we ride the Fire Horse. Forcing the pace, hustling, stressing, and rushing are no longer a frequency that matches the horse. When we follow our excitement with our soul and let go of the need for a specific result, we create space for the universe to surprise us. Life becomes quite magical—not perfect, just magical.

The Wisdom of the Horse

But remember: a horse that never stops running eventually collapses. This year isn't just about "go, go, go." The horse demands the Still Point. It needs deep rest, clear intention, and its herd.

Horses are communal; they thrive in their herds. They love running and having fun together, but they also need moments of solitude. When one rests, the others contain and protect. What can we learn from this at this specific moment in history?

In our practice this month, we are playing with that balance. We’ll use the Earth Sequence as our anchor—a nervous system hug so we don't get "burned"—and the Inner Fire Sequence to keep our Agni strong. The Yin and the Yang. This is the perfect time to come back to our mats to nurture our energy so we can gallop with intention and feel free.

Following My Excitement

I’m a big believer that I am always in the right place at the right time. Looking back to the middle of lockdown in 2020...

I was living in a cocktail of emotions. On one hand, I was having a wonderful time with my family—loving the quieter pace, our nature walks, the bike rides, and the board games. But on the other hand? I was very angry at the world and how institutions were managing the situation. I was fearful for my family back in Mexico, wondering when I’d ever be able to see them again.

While listening to a podcast, I heard a man named Peter Sage speak. His energy and his words gave me those "soul goosebumps"—that signal that demands your attention. I explored his work, read his book, and joined a 5-day challenge. Eventually, I joined his Mentoring Program—the Elite Mentorship Forum (EMF).

That experience didn’t "change my life" in the way people usually mean—it changed the way I look at it. It changed how I relate to myself and the world around me. It gave me the deep, quiet knowing that life is always on my side, even in the most challenging moments. I realized that grief and pain aren't the enemies; they are part of life, and moreover, they are part of love. Two sides of the same coin.

I loved the transformation so much that three years later, I decided to become a Trainer. Similar to Dru Yoga, I felt it was too good and too profound not to share.

Our Inner Circle

One of the most beautiful parts of this experience is the people you meet—people on that same path, courageous enough to look at themselves in the mirror. When we do that, judgment loses its power and we become curious about each other.

In that container, I met my wonderful friend and business partner, Tash Cook. Together we launched SoulWork, a conscious business to normalize grief, loss, and change. When we embrace these natural experiences, we instantly open ourselves to life, love, and light.

Over the last two years, we have held space for four groups, or what we call Inner Circles. We’ve witnessed people move from depression to empowerment, from burnout to meaning, and from sleepless nights to peaceful living. Today, as Peter celebrates his 50th global group (EMF50), Tash and I are about to start our 5th Inner Circle on the very day of the Fire Horse New Year!

Will this be your sign?

Just as that podcast was for me, maybe reading this is a sign for you. Not necessarily about EMF, but your soul knocking to show you something you can’t ignore anymore.

EMF is an experience that invites you to take radical responsibility for your reality—not by changing the "content" of your life, but by adjusting the lens of how you see yourself. We integrate deep somatic practices—breath, movement, and nervous system regulation—to ensure the work happens at a cellular level.

The Fire Horse only comes every 60 years. This is a rare and important portal. The choices you make now will be the blueprint for your next nine years. If you feel those bubbly goosebumps, don't ignore them. The Horse is at the gate. Remember: ready is not a feeling, it is a decision.

What’s Happening this Month

Like my friend Jordan, I am following my excitement! Here is what is flowing in our community:

  • Dru Yoga Classes: If your body is feeling tense, tight, or rusty, it’s time to get back on your mat. Choose from six classes (in-studio or online). Embody the Fire Horse with the Earth and Inner Fire Sequences.

  • Visioning & Cacao with Deanna & Mariana: The horse invites collaboration! I am so excited to create this experience with my beautiful Pilates teacher, Deanna. She has such a profound understanding of the body and life. Together, we’ll help you bring those dreams out of the basement and into the light through cacao, visioning, and movement. (Exclusive to 10 people!)

  • Inner Circle 5 with Mariana & Tash: If your body responds to the idea of having six months to truly honour yourself, we would love to welcome you into our Inner Circle. If you feel even a slight curiosity or have questions whispering in your heart, let’s chat. Let us hold the space for you to discover if this journey is the "yes" you’ve been waiting for.

With so much love and Fire Horse momentum!
