“There is a voice that doesn't use words. Listen”
Rumi
The start of a new month is always inspiring. I love preparing the monthly intention for my classes and community, and I have allowed myself to do it more intuitively. I now let the intention present itself to me instead of trying to find it, and it always tends to be in perfect timing for what my students are needing.
Intuition you said? Yes, I know intuition is a word we hear quite frequently, but what is it really? According to the dictionary, intuition is the ability to understand or know something immediately based on your feelings rather than facts. Some call it intuition, some call it gut, some call it heart, some call it soul, and some call it higher self. Regardless of what you choose to name it, your intuition is that voice inside you that acts as your compass. It is your internal GPS system that guides you to live your life on your own terms. It always guides you to what is and feels right FOR YOU!
If you trust and let this inner voice guide you, you "know" it is going to be good for you. Quite likely, it will be good for the greatest good of the world around you and will always lead you in the right direction for you.
To connect with this powerful, innate ability, we can do it through the Third Eye Chakra, also known as the Ajna Centre. Located between our eyebrows, this energy centre is the seat of our intuition, insights, and inner vision. And as you can already imagine, nurturing our relationship with this Inner Voice is our Community Intention for July.
The Unfortunate Rupture with Our Inner Voice
When we are little children, we are very in tune with our inner guidance and follow this voice in most of what we do. As we grow up, we let the volume of our inner wisdom quiet down and let our environment influence and even shape our actions, beliefs, and who we are by conventional ways of thinking.
We also learn that when making important decisions in life, someone else will have the answers we are looking for (someone smarter, more experienced, more qualified). While there is value in having trusted guides and mentors, it is important that your decisions are always (with no exceptions) made by the only person that knows what is in your best interest: YOU.
Inner Reflection: Reflect on a moment when you did something you knew was not right for you or aligned with you. Maybe you felt pushed by someone else, feared judgement or rejection, or tried to fit in or please someone. How did you know it wasn't right for you? How did you feel doing something that didn't feel right from the start?
Awakening our Somatic Dignity
Somatic Dignity is all about reclaiming the inherent power and grace within our bodies. When we honour and respect our physical selves, we create a harmonious foundation for our minds to find the peace of mind we so crave for. This month, we will focus on how an empowered body can become a sanctuary of serenity, allowing our intuition to surface. Your body is a sacred vessel, deserving of care, respect, and love. By embracing this knowing, we will start to notice a profound shift in how we perceive and relate with ourselves and with the world around us.
Rebuilding the Relationship with our Inner Voice
Our intuition is always present, is that gentle whisper guiding us towards our best next step. However, the noise of daily life often drowns out this inner voice. This month, we will focus on rebuilding our relationship with this innate superpower. It's a process of trust and surrender, of quieting the external noises to hear the soft murmur of our deepest desires.
We will practice asking better questions, ones that resonate with our core. Instead of seeking answers from the outside world, we will turn inward, asking our intuition to guide us. Questions like, "What does my heart truly desire?" or "How can I honour my true self in this moment?" "What do I need from my practice today?" will become our daily moments of truth. These inquiries will open the door to deeper self-awareness and clarity and start reshaping our relationship with our Inner Wisdom.
Feeling the Way Your Inner Wisdom Speaks
One of the most profound aspects of our journey to Ajna will be learning to feel how our Inner Wisdom speaks to us. Intuition is not always a loud, clear voice; often, it's a subtle feeling, a nudge, or a quiet knowing. We will tune into these sensations, trusting our bodies to communicate what words sometimes cannot.
Through meditation and mindfulness practices, we can attune to its unique language. We will notice the gentle flutter in our chest when something feels right or the slight tension when something is off. These body cues will become our compass, guiding us towards decisions and actions aligned with our highest good.
The Pineal Gland: The Gateway to our Inner Vision
In between our eye brows we have this special pinecone-shaped gland that lies in the centre of our brain. Your pineal gland is in charge of producing and balancing a hormone called melatonin. This hormone is really important because it regulates our internal clock and daily cycles (circadian rhythm) so we can be awake and energised during the day and rest and restore during the night. This gland also helps us to concentrate and enhances our ability to connect with our intuition.
When the pineal gland is activated and balanced, it potentiates our ability to access deeper states of consciousness and experience heightened intuition. Practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and spending time in natural sunlight can support the health and activation of the pineal gland. I love watching directly into the sunrise or sunset light for a few micro moments and close my eyes and notice with curiosity the images, colours or light inside my forehead. Give it a try!
Practices for Empowering the Third Eye Chakra
As part of our Dru Yoga practice this month, we will engage in specific practices designed to enhance our connection with the Brow Center or Third Eye. Two of my favourite ones are the Moon Sequence and a concentration practice called Ajna Centering.
The gentleness of the Moon Sequence aligns us with the lunar energies, promoting a state of calm and introspection. It helps us to slow down, tune into our inner rhythms, and connect deeply with our intuitive selves. By practicing this sequence, we create a sacred space for our intuition to flourish.
Ajna Centering is drawing your attention and breath to the space between your eyebrows, encouraging us to visualise and activate the Third Eye Chakra. Through Ajna Centering, we learn to quiet the mind, bring clarity to our vision, and tap into our innate wisdom.
Reflective Questions for Deepening Your Practice
My mentor Peter Sage says that Questions are the steering wheel of the mind. By asking the right questions, you can access your inner world, uncovering truths and insights that guide you towards a more authentic and fulfilling life.
- How do I feel when I trust my intuition?
- What steps can I take to honour my body's needs?
- When was the last time I felt a strong intuitive nudge, and how did I respond?
- What practices help me quiet the external noise to hear my inner voice more clearly?
- How can I support the health and activation of my pineal gland?
Turn Up the Volume of Your Intuition
Our exploration of the Third Eye Chakra and Inner Wisdom is a lifelong journey. Each step we take, every moment of introspection, brings us closer to our true selves. By nurturing our Somatic Dignity and rebuilding our relationship with our Inner Voice, we unlock the door to a deeper understanding of who we are and the path we're meant to walk as the unique beings we are.
As we move forward this month, my wish for you is that you honour your body, trust your intuition, and embrace the wisdom within your heart. Remember, your inner voice is your greatest ally, always ready to guide you towards your highest potential and vibration.
If you want to start or expand your practice to nurture your Inner Voice, join us for a Dru Yoga Class or attend our upcoming event, Metamorphosis, where we turn crisis into empowerment. If you are ready to dive deeper, we are beginning Inner Circle 3 of our Consciousness Mentoring Program in mid-July. This is a wonderful opportunity to continue your journey of growth and transformation within a more conscious and supportive community.
Additionally, I am excited to announce that registration for our Spring Retreat, 'Seeds of Intentions,' will open at the end of July. This retreat is designed to help you create a vision for a 2025 that feels like you. With luxurious accommodations, delicious plant-based meals, yoga, meditation, and much more, the Spring Retreat is an experience you don’t want to miss.
As you walk through July, remember that your inner wisdom is a powerful guide, friend, teacher, and mentor. Nurture your Third Eye Chakra with these simple practices and allow your intuition to lead you. You will unlock a deep sense of clarity and purpose. Together, we can create a world where every one of us is connected to our inner wisdom and empowered to create our most authentic life.
Namaste!
