Merry Relationships

A Season to Meet Yourself and Others With More Love, Grace and Presence
"If we truly want peace in the world, let us begin by loving one another in our own families”
Mother Teresa

Can you believe December has arrived? In the blink of an eye, the jolly season is officially here!

I hope that after nurturing our three seeds of Spring, you honour yourself as your own best friend. I hope you’ve found space to release your heart from the past through the light of forgiveness and I hope that you are feeling more aligned with your spirit so that every day feels just a little more inspiring.

The festive season is a wonderful opportunity for inner reflection, to count our blessings and to celebrate our lives. And I don’t mean just celebrating the wins, the goals, or the shiny moments—but celebrating all of it, including the messy parts that shaped us into who we are today.

This is also the time to be with our loved ones, a season where we turn our hearts toward family and friends, where we deeply miss those who are no longer with us, where unattended wounds might make sudden appearances, or where unspoken emotions pop up unexpectedly in weird moments like the shopping center parking lot.

Because the quality of our lives is so deeply connected with the quality of our relationships, I wanted to shine a special light on this beautifully tender, part of our human experience.

So this month’s intention is (drum rolls please)...

Merry Relationships!!!

Not perfect relationships… Not Instagram like relationships… But merry ones—warm, present, conscious, real, and meaningful.

I’m talking about the kind of connections that flow from an inner sense of fullness. Those that we nurture when we feel centred, wholesome, and connected to our own light.

Merry Relationships are our reminder to bring presence, compassion, and lightness into every moment we share with another human being… to soften our edges… to listen with our hearts… to speak with kindness and truth… and to meet each other with curiosity and love as the perfectly imperfect humans we are.

"If you think you're enlightened, go spend a week with your family"

Our Relationships Are Our Mirrors

The way we relate to others is often a direct reflection of how we relate to ourselves. This is where our Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana) comes in.

This exquisite energy center lives in our lower abdomen, and it has so much more influence on our relationships than we realise. It’s the home of our emotions, our boundaries, our memories, our creativity, our capacity to connect, it’s where true intimacy takes place.

This is the centre where our sense of "I" develops, where we form beliefs about who we are and how the world meets us. When we root this centre in fullness and delight—believing we are loved, supported, and part of something larger—we meet others from a place of trust. Life feels like a constant collaboration.

But if our sense of self is built on “not enough,” we might see the world as something to protect ourselves from. We react, fight, defend, or shut down.

Moonbeams and Bridges: Our December Practice

Before I tell you all about our Monthly Practice, try this Soul Exploration:

Our bodies often speak what our minds are not yet ready to hear. When you experience low back pain, hip tension, fatigue, urinary infections, bladder weakness, or hormonal imbalances, I invite you to pause and listen deeper. Ask yourself: Is there a part in your relationships that feels out of flow right now?

With this awareness, we will move into our practice to teach the body a new message: “I am safe. I am whole. I am connected”

This month, we are focusing on the pelvic area, opening our hips and allowing our psoas to release as we flow through the magical Moon Sequence (Chandra Namaskara) - one of my favourites when I am feeling emotional, reactive or when my hormones are feeling out of balance..

While the sun radiates light and energises us, the moon is that soft, silent guide that emanates calmness. Since our Sacral Chakra is a water centre, the moon plays a major role in our emotional tides. By practising this sequence, we harmonise our "water body," cooling the heat, balancing our hormones and attracting peace and bliss.

From this place of fluid reflection, we will find our stability in the Bridge Posture (Setubandhasana).

We will use this beautiful asana to strengthen our glutes and core, allowing the spine to serve as a literal bridge to our higher levels of consciousness. It is from this supported, grounded place that we can open our throats to speak our truth with love.

These practices will nourish you through the social busyness, the shopping madness, the emotional waves, and the big family energies of the season.

December Activations

Here are some reflective prompts to integrate into your month, your journaling, or your moments of silence:

  • The Mirror: When I feel triggered by a loved one, what are they reflecting back to me about my own internal state?
  • The Offering: How do I want people to feel when they are in my presence? Do I offer a safe harbour?
  • The Invitation: Can I offer the gift of my full presence, listening not to fix, but to understand?

A Christmas Meditation

I want to leave you with a little gift—a meditation to nurture your relationships this Christmas. The good thing is that you can do anywhere, anytime.

1. Connect to the Source: Close your eyes for a moment and take a soft breath. Visualise a pure, golden light descending from above, entering the crown of your head and settling deep into the centre of your heart.

2. The Screen of the Heart: Now, imagine a screen of light appearing just in front of your chest. On this movie screen, see your loved ones appearing.

3. The Reflection: Visualise a beam of golden light streaming from your own heart and gently reflecting onto theirs on the screen. As this light connects you, heart-to-heart, silently offer them these wishes:

May you be happy.

May you be healthy and strong.

May you be peaceful.

May you have lots of fun.

May you see your own light.

May all your dreams come true.

4. The Return: Gently draw that golden light back into your own heart, and then send it spiralling upwards, out through the crown of your head and into the heavens above.

5. Radiance: Repeat this lovely flow a few times—light descending, reflecting, and returning—until you see your loved ones on that screen in their most radiant expression, holding that vision for them for eternity.

Merry Christmas!

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being part of my community. You are very precious to me. I feel so blessed to have you in my life and that we get to share this gift of life together.

Have the most magical Christmas and a blissful 2026 to you and yours. I can’t wait to connect with you in the new year.

I love you.
